Two Soap Stars in DeNiro Film
(Soaps In Depth - November 11, 2003)
AMC's Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie) shares a first look at an Indie in which she co-stars and that also features GH grad Tava Smiley (ex-Chloe).
Searching for Bobby DeNiro co-stars Hendrickson as Debbie, "a pretty young girl," the actress says with a laugh, who takes a liking to Johnny, an aspiring filmmaker played by William DeMeo (Analyze That). "Johnny and his friends have this 'brilliant' idea that in order to star in your own movie you should produce your own movie," she says, "so they go on a journey to find financing" - and cast Robert DeNiro in the film, to boot!
Sneaking off to the DeNiro shoot was no easy feat, given Hendrickson's day job. "On a soap, you may not be working a few days, but you don't get a schedule until a few weeks ahead of time. So [the film's producers] have been very accommodating." Alas, unseasonably chilly weather has not been. "The first shots we did were outside, so I've been bundled up. But Debbie might look a bit sexier in the interior shots!"
DeNiro is giving Hendrickson the chance to meet castmates like model Tyson Beckford ("He's so sweet!"), Vincent Pastore (Arthur, OLTL; The Sopranos) and GH alum Smiley, who covered the shoot as a reporter for EXTRA, then nabbed a tiny role. "She's darling!" says the AMC-er.
