AMC's Hendrickson on her "Bittersweet" Exit
(Soap Opera Digest - February 15, 2005)

How is Elizabeth Hendrickson holding up as she and Eden Riegel approach their final day of taping? "Eden is an emotional mess and I'm in complete denial," she laughs. "We're kind of balancing each other out."

But the actress did have some time to get used to her departure. "About six months ago, I went to the show and asked them what was going on with Maggie," she explains. "They told me something big was coming up in the summertime, but then nothing happened. And although Eden hadn't told me yet that she was leaving, I kind of figured out on my own that she was going to go in January. So, I thought, "Well, let me ask and see if I can leave with her.'

"The funny thing," she continues, "is that the very day my manager called [Executive Producer] Julie Hanan Carruthers, I got five scripts delivered to my door - my great storyline with Jeff [Branson, Jonathan] was finally kicking in! And when my manager told me, 'They said yes, you can go,' I was kind of like, 'Oh, no! Did I make the right decision?' But when you get right down to it, I really can't imagine being on the show without Eden. It just feels right to be leaving with her, even though leaving is bittersweet."

After wrapping up at AMC, Hendrickson is heading to L.A. for pilot season. But she's open to another daytime stint. "Let's put it this way," she winks. "I have a major shopping problem, and I'm not going back to food serving! So, if I don't make it out in California, I would be more than happy to audition for another soap."
